Bury South MP Christian Wakeford visited Vita’s production facility in Middleton, Manchester to discover more about the development of its Vita Shield face covering.

In the last 4 months, Vita’s product development team has used its expertise in the medical sector and developed the Vita Shield face covering. Initially developed to help protect its own employees, Vita Shield has been rigorously tested and complies with the WHO guidelines and is manufactured in our Accrington facility.

The Vita team discussed with Mr Wakeford its concern that many people are confused by the messages on face coverings and don’t know which to purchase, or how to use them safely and what to do with them after use.

Speaking about the face covering, CEO of The Vita Group Ian Robb said, “I’m proud to say Vita Shield face coverings provide 90% Bacteria Filtration Efficiency (BFE), exceeding the current standard of 70% BFE which is in place in European countries such as France and Belgium and the new European CEN Workshop agreement CWA 17553:2020. But whilst these countries have a clear safety standard for face coverings, and are actively implementing standards, we have yet to see something similar introduced to the UK.”
