On 25th October 1949 Vita received its first cheque payment for the manufacture and delivery of latex mattresses to Wrays furniture retailers in Lees, Oldham. Over the next 70 years Vita continued developing and expanding in its products portfolio and the industries it serves. Today, Vita is Europe’s leading supplier of flexible PU (polyurethane) foam.

Our employees across Europe celebrated this achievement. During October 2019, every site took part in activities to mark the 70th Anniversary of our company.

Vita’s original manufacturing base was in Oldham and in 1955 it moved to Middleton in north Manchester, where it first started manufacturing PU foam and retains its International Head Office. Employees at this site enjoyed numerous activities centred around being thankful and giving back. Members of staff who go above and beyond in their local communities were recognised for their volunteering. While collections were made for the local foodbank as well as people from all Manchester sites taking part in a Team Vita Park Run.

Vita in Hungary had an environmental and healthy living outlook in their celebrations of the 70th anniversary. They held a litter pick to ensure the site was clean and safe. The team also promoted the health and wellbeing of all its staff by holding yoga sessions and installing wall bars for exercises to encourage people to take breaks from sitting at desks.

Our team in Croatia united at a picnic and team sports day at a local lake and beauty spot. They planted several olive and lemon trees around the exterior of the site.

Our Flooring division at Ball and Young held several ‘Discover Vita’ challenges throughout October. There were numerous departmental shared lunches and employees were presented with small gifts to say thank you for their work.

On Friday 25th October, designated Vita Day, each site celebrated the anniversary. Food and entertainment were laid on for all in recognition of the contribution made by former and present employees in creating 70 years of innovative solutions.
