Middleton site celebrating the International Women's DayThe 8th March was International Women’s Day, a day in which we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. At The Vita Group, this year’s event had an extra special meaning as it was also the first anniversary of our inaugural people network WaVe (Women at Vita Everywhere).

Over the last 12 months, we have brought the Vita community together through a series of events and sessions which have looked at topics such as imposter syndrome, menopause and creating a work-life balance. These events have been well received and have seen a fantastic uptake from people across all our sites.

The sessions have involved a range of storytelling by colleagues of their experiences and support from external professionals in each of the areas. Through 2023 and beyond we hope to expand the network and offer more events that will be beneficial for our colleagues.

In celebration of International Women’s Day and WaVe’s anniversary, we invited all our sites to hold a coffee morning fundraiser to recognise and appreciate the amazing contributions women make to our business every day and also support ActionAid – an international charity working with women and girls living in poverty.

We also set up a collection of unwanted or unloved bras, which will be donated to Against Breast Cancer (Bra Recycling – Against Breast Cancer). Donating old bras to Against Breast Cancer saves them from landfill and supports businesses in developing countries as well as raising funds for pioneering breast cancer research.

IWD decorationsIt was fantastic to see Vita people coming together to support one another and create a positive work environment.

After everyone had chatted and enjoyed their cakes we held a special award ceremony. Over the past few weeks, we have been collecting nominations for the inspirational women of Vita and the amazing colleagues that support and enable them.

This very special and wonderfully inclusive event highlighted some of the extraordinary people throughout The Vita Group. Two special mentions were to Gordana Cafuta and Nicoleta Stoian from Vita Croatia and Vita Romania who both received an incredible number of nominations from both colleagues from their sites but more impressive from all across the group, these two ladies are a true inspiration and we are so proud of them as well all the amazing women in our business.
