RevoSport, which manufactures revolutionary shockpad underlay for artificial sports pitches made from 100% recycled foam products, celebrates after seeing off stiff competition to take home the prestigious Sustainability Manufacturer award at this year’s Made in the North West Awards.

Organised by North West Business Insider and held at The Lowry Hotel in Salford, the event acknowledged and celebrated the cream of North West manufacturing among the most pioneering and dynamic world.

The judges commented that RevoSport, based in Middleton and part of The Vita Group, has created a real circular economy. It was a great message from a great North West company.

“We are hugely proud of our RevSport team and delighted that their hard work has been recognised with this fabulous prize,” said The Vita Group’s CEO, Ian Robb. “Taking home the Sustainability award is an acknowledgement of the huge impact their work is having. Products manufactured in Middleton are making a significant and sustainable impact globally, especially in the reduction of products to landfill.

“While this award is hugely welcome recognition, the real prize we’re all working towards is saving the planet for future generations. The Vita Group continues to invest in research and development of innovative new products to offer enhanced sustainability and increased quality, as well as improved benefits for product lifespan and user comfort.”

RevoSport was launched in 2016 in response to The Vita Group’s endeavours to reuse excess foam made as a by-product from its manufacturing processes – this foam is known as trim. RevoSport shockpad is an important contribution to repurpose trim foam as part of a circular economy.

RevoSport provides revolutionary shockpad underlay for artificial sports pitches made from 100% recycled foam products and is 100% recyclable. The finished shockpad is suitable for all artificial sports floorings and play areas, indoor and outdoor.

At the end of life (EOL) cycle, it can be recycled again to create a new roll of RevoSport. This ensures a complete circular economy and saves thousands of tons of products going to landfill each year. In 2020, The Vita Group repurposed over 31,200 tonnes of PU trim into new products – the equivalent in weight of three Eiffel Towers.

The RevoSport shockpad innovation is infused with Revo Technology and reticulated foam to help with drainage. It has been developed in a range of different densities and thicknesses to encompass all sporting activities.

The product can be supplied in pre-manufactured and brand packaged rolls to suit the width of a pitch, which can range from full size 9,500 sq m pitches to small residential play areas.

RevoSport supplies wholesalers, retailers, construction companies, sports facilities and schools across the UK, Europe and Middle East.
