Climate change is the pressing concern of our time. By taking responsibility for the types and volumes of energy we consume, and the resulting emissions’ footprint, we seek to proactively reduce our impact on the climate and the communities where we operate.

Some of our key achievements to date:

  • More than 90% of the energy we consume is sustainably sourced.
  • The introduction of specialised trailers that can compress materials has significantly increased the amount of foam that can be transported in one vehicle, enabling an estimated reduction of 2.3 million KM travelled each year.
  • Working with suppliers to increase the payload of inbound chemicals reducing another 1.2 million KM travelled each year.
  • As of March 2021, Vita has sourced wind energy to address ~90% of it’s electricity load via Guarantees of Origin (GOs).

Our ambitious Optimising Resources goals are:

  • Achieve Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon neutrality by reducing, replacing or offsetting 100% of the emissions from our wholly-owned manufacturing operations by 2050.

  • Achieve 50% carbon intensity reduction from supply chain by 2030.

Case Study – LED Lights

  • The Vita Group’s Technical division has installed LED lighting across its major facilities in Accrington, Breda and Memmingen. This has saved 572,666 kWh of energy and 90k Euros annually, demonstrating the dual benefit of investing in resource efficiency.
  • The planned installation of LED lightning through our Comfort Division’s Middleton facility is estimated to save:
    • Over 741,000 less kWh annually
    • approximately £78k (€99k) annually
