Performance at-a-glance

In 2021, we carried out a detailed mapping exercise covering our GHG emissions. This exercise is now complete, ahead of our stated schedule. Furthermore, we have already met or are ahead of target to meet two of the goals included in our ESG document ‘Enhancing Everyday Life‘.

This section outlines some of our progress to date, including the significant progress against several key metrics, demonstrating the strength of our commitment and our environmental management system.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions

In 2021, we reduced our Scope 1 emissions by 24%. Scope 2 GHG emissions were reduced to zero by the end of 2021. The entire Vita Group uses 100% renewable electricity. This alongside the reduction in our Scope 1 emissions means we are ahead of our plans to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25%. In fact, we have already reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by approximately 50%.

Managing waste

We have a long history of repurposing 100% trim materials, and converting them into high performing new products for other industries. For example, in 2021, we were awarded Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer of the Year at the Made in the North West awards for RevoSport, a shock pad with a range of applications including multi-use games areas, play areas, landscaping projects and sports pitch systems. We continue to find new opportunities to extend the life of PU foam.

Safety Performance

Our safety performance throughout 2021 improved significantly, a testament to the hard work of all our employees. Fundamental changes have been made on factory floors and beyond, and we are challenging ourselves to maintain the pace of positive change in 2022 and beyond.

Gender split across the Group

Like many companies, Vita saw a lower participation of females in the workforce through COVID. Our numbers of senior female leaders, however, remained constant.
