Our Workforce

Central to ensuring the continued development of The Vita Group are our people. We are fortunate to have individuals working at the top of their fields of expertise. Investing in ongoing development, training and their wellbeing is crucial to ensuring that our colleagues remain motivated and passionate about their work as well as safe and healthy.

We engage in various campaigns to promote the wellbeing, health and continuous development of our employees, including:

  • Better You, Better Life: Focused on physical, mental and social wellbeing
  • Vita Towards Zero: Has the aim of zero accidents, year on year
  • Annual safety campaigns: Enable continuous learning and training around key safety topics
  • Women at Vita, everywhere (WaVe): Employee resource group to support women to reach their full potential
  • Annual sustainability campaign: Engage the workforce with what sustainability means to them personally and how they can integrate it into their roles and responsibilities
  • Mentoring scheme: To assist employee personal development. Pilot scheme rolled out to determine the success of a Group-wide initiative

Safety

Our principal commitment is to ensure the safety of every employee, contractor and visitor to our sites, ensuring that each and every individual returns home safe. We take pride in fostering a culture that prioritises safety and advocates for the better physical and health and mental wellbeing of our employees. 2024 saw our best safety performance to date, resulting in us ending the year with a lost time incident frequency rate (LTIFR) of 0.14. We are proud of the resilience and compassion our employees show and such results would not be possible without their dedication to enabling a culture of health and safety across all sites.

Our Vita Towards Zero campaign supports our belief that all accidents are preventable. It aims to reduce risks and hazards through employee engagement in safety, training on risk identification and risk reduction. We will continue to drive safety with the aim of continually achieving zero accidents.

Vita is 75

Established in 1949 in Oldham, Greater Manchester, The Vita Group reached 75 years in business. Whilst being founded as a manufacturer of latex pillows and mattresses, our main offering now is flexible polyurethane (PU) foam, with latex products being produced in our site in Maastricht, Netherlands. The last 75 years have seen an incredible amount of change, driven and supported by the people.

We are committed to working with and leaving a positive mark on the communities in which we operate. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, our employees donated their time to their local communities, offering help and support and providing opportunities to celebrate together. Activities ranged from planting trees to spending time with vulnerable individuals to painting community buildings.

On the 20th September, each site came together to celebrate with their teams. We shared a business-wide call with the executive leaders to thank teams for their hard work and dedication. The remainder of the day was spent with sites celebrating together, enjoying lunch and spending time with colleagues and friends.
