Optimising Resources

Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of our time and climate action is at the core of our sustainability journey. We are committed to increasing our resource efficiency, reducing our resource consumption and achieving our net-zero targets to proactively reduce our impact on the climate and the communities where we operate.

Our key progress to date:

  • 56% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 emissions from our 2019 baseline
  • 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from our 2019 baseline
  • 100% renewable electricity usage across all sites
  • 99.3% of waste diverted from landfill in 2024

Science-based targets

Our commitment to climate action extends beyond compliance. We understand that change is necessary and must be driven by facts and data. We have embraced the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to set targets grounded in scientific evidence.

Our science-based targets are:

  • 46.2% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 absolute emissions by 2030
  • 27.5% reduction in Scope 3 absolute emissions by 2030
  • Net-zero in Scopes 1, 2 and 3 absolute emissions by 2050

Our Roadmap towards net-zero emissions

To support our validated net-zero target, we have developed a Climate Transition Action Plan. As part of this, we have identified four key levers to reduce our operational emissions:

  • Renewable energy procurement: Continue to purchase 100% renewable electricity across all of our sites
  • Energy efficiency and optimisation: Investment in energy efficiency upgrades, equipment optimisation and on-site projects to reduce energy consumption
  • Alternative cleaning chemistries: Innovate to transition to alternative cleaning chemistries, which have a lower GWP
  • Decoupling processing emissions from production volumes: Innovate to reduce processing emissions or capture them

Together, these actions form a cohesive strategy that reduces our environmental impact and builds long-term operational resilience.

Material use

Flexible polyurethane foam is versatile and recyclable. During manufacturing, off-cuts (trim) can be repurposed into other products. We ensure that all usable trim from our own sites and bought back from customers is recycled and repurposed. In 2024, this collaboration recycled over 26,567 tonnes of trim.

We have made significant progress in our waste segregation across our facilities and are on track to reach our 2030 target of complete separation. Including trim, 86% of all our waste was recycled in 2024.
